AUCKLAND SHOW.
Etens sve preparations are being made at Alexandra Park for the spring show of the Auckland Agricultural ami Pastoral Associtaino, which opens tomorrow.
As the entries on this occasion con* stitnte a record for Auckland, one hundred additional pens are being erected. That these will be required is evident from the fact that in horses and cattle atone there is an increase in the number of entries, as conmpared with those of last year, of 230, and the total increase all round ts 308. cattle 328. sheep, 212 pigs 91. butter, produce, and sundires 285. Want of space has necessitated refusing folly a score of applicants for exhibiting in the manufacturing department. As usual, agricultural impliments will be well in evidence. The steady growth of this show is proved by the fact that in addition to several handsome cups and trvphies, no less than £1250 is offered in prise money this year. if only the weather proves fine on Friday and Saturday a record attendance may be confidently expected. The deputy Mayor, Mr A. J. Entrican, has asked citizens to observe a halfholiday. and the Railway Department is making every provision for visitors from a distance. The excursion fares last until December 3rd, anc special trains will be ran on Saturday for the convenience of those who wish to return to their homes immediately the show closes. The Auckland Brokers' Association has decided to cloec on Friday afternoon. The "People's Day" will be made doubly attractive this year by reason of the high standard of the competing exhibits in alt the horse classes. The programme of events will, by reason of large numbers of entries, extend over both days.
