OHURA COUNTY FOOTBALL TEAM.
Probables and Possibles I'.y "KNOCK-OX." G. Loveflay, Tatu. If chosen will most probably be captain; a player of great experience; bard grafter in both scrum and loose; bis methods apt to puzzle and put off his less brilliant comrades; has represented Woodvilie and Waitomo— also Bisley. S. Currie, Tatu. A new player but after a match or two'will have lots of confidence; a bit light for the game; requires to study the fine points more. J. O'Brien Tatu. Used to be safe tackier; should keep goal well; no pace to speak of; good on defence. W. K. Williams, Mangaroa. Useful man on his side; feeds his backs well; with more experience will be one of the best in the team; plays well with Loveday. G. Denison, Mangaroa. Strong forward; apt to play the man rather than the ball; bard to know where to place him as he is apt to play on his own. G. Stevenson, Tongaporutu. A very promising young player; willing to take and give hard knocks; works hard although at times his efforts arc misdirected. Inclined to hang on too long; should pass more. 11. f,crup, Tongaporutu. An old Dannevirke player; one of the "has beens"; too slow for rep team; would be better placed in Butter Factory Team, where he would be a safe man; has put in a lot of solid work training. J. Risk, Waitewhena.
Has represented Raetihi; good on line out; apt to work thr ball as far as he wants it and then fall on it. Will not pass. S. Meredith. Waitewhcna.
Played for Matau; this alone is sufficient to warrant inclusion in any team; also good man to supply goal posts; would be good man to "school" young players; used to it. W. Samlison, Matiere.
If included should be played wing forward as he is a disciple of "off-side Mac's"; dangerous man in the loose but is inclined to play the man rather than the ball; strong runner on the "Boundary lines." A. H. Hyde, Matiere. Old Ongarue rep.; his tackling has improved since then; not a creative player but good at following a lead; has also occasionally represented Waitomo. W. Carter, Otangiwai. A theoretical player; not so good in practice; has a new scrum formation to test if included in team. Represented Mahorahora and possibly South Africa; r.ot sure of latter; will have to show improved form this week to be picked. W. Stewart, Otangiwai. Good wind, can last out a strong "bla* "; is a hard man to upset as he is clever on his pins; although a new man many wouid like to see him incuded; represented Scotland; could play the County "Slogan." T. O'Brien, Otangiwai. Good collarer; plays in same position as Hyde and J. O'Brien; very safe in front of own goal line. Unlike his club mate Carter, is practical not theoretical. McKinnon, Kururau.
Only man from North Eastern Portion of district; sure to be picked; another old Scotch rep; plays with his bead and his fjpel and every thing else that is his; will most probably be manager for team. I should have liked to see some players like Lyons, Hunt, McLeod, Hope, Lloyd, Dunn, Carrie and Clark training for the season but hope to see them going another year. However I think a strong team can be got out of those already going, if they are well handled in the field, but they must remember that to represent a rep team they must play as a team and not as individuals.—Verb.: Sap:
