OTOROHANGA POLICE COURT.

Sepcmber 21, 1909. Before Messrs Yicary and Johnson, J's.P. David Ormsby and Ratima, a Rolnrua Native, were charged with behaving in a disorderly manner and with having used offensive language in the presence of ladies ami children whilst travelling from Te Awamutu to Otorohanga in a 2nd class non-smoker. Constable Frtfser stated that he was on the same train as the accused, and while travelling between Kawa and Kio Kto the two men indulged in a stand up fight in the carriage. As this conduct was becoming too prevalent he asked for a substantial fine, as in the past he had found that small fines did not deter wrongdoers. Both accused pleaded guilty and were fined .£2 and costs 12s 2d each, in default seven days' imprisonment. Ratima asked for time to pay. but this was opposed by Constable Fraser. However, the Bench gave him two hours in which to find the money. Threat to do Bodily Harm. On the ITtb inst. Constable Fraser arrested a young Native at Hangatiki named Te Wawawha for having threatened Te Taha, the young man's father with an axe. He was brought up before Messrs Vicary and Wylie J's.P., and after hearing several witnesses including Te Taha be was remanded to Mount Eden gaol for medical attendance.
