TO ONE I LOVE.

O'er my pensive soul comes stealing A wistful longing for the poet's art. I then could write with truer feeling The grateful tribute of my heart. Oh! bad I the poet's wit and genius, I would sing in verses sweet and gay, The charms of that little Venus In Kinohaku Bay. Would I had that Heaven-sent power The souls of men to charm and thrill. Or, to describe that little bower Beside the sunny gorsc-clad hill; For it's there my troubled mind finds rest, And there I fain would stay With her I love clasped to my breast At Kinobaku Bay. Oh! I have roamed o'er many a land And sailed o'er many a sea. Pair woman's charms I could withstand Until I met with thee. Wherever fate may drive or lead me yet, And come what will, or may. That jewel I never can forget At Kinohaku Bay. If it is God's will that I again must roam A wanderer lone and sad, to grieve Until I reach my last long home, I shall never cease to think of We may not ever, side by side Fight through life's stormy way. But my heart is yours, my love, my pride At Kinohaku Bay. When day has passed and gone for ever, And the hour for rest comes nieh; When your thoughts from earth you sever To worship the Omnipotent on high; Ob! in that hour my dearest one, Will you think of, and kindly pray For that poor, stormtossed exiled son, Near Kinohaku Bay.
