"HOME RULE."
! A drama with a sound and interes'ing ptct, plenty of fen, considemble scenic display, and some realty good Irish songs, is almost sure to succeed. "Home Hole," baa alt these advantages. and the, additional benefit of having its leading comedy character played by that admirable Irish Comedian. Mr Charlie Taylor. Years ago the "Stage Irishman" ranted and roared, made coarse joke* and carried a huge shitlatagh which he brandished threateningly on the slightest provocation and behaved generally as no selfrespecting son of Htberoia coold behave. Dion Boocicault showed con-. closively how far from Nature that sort of character was: and Andrew! Mack, in America, and Charlie Taylor I in Australasia, have completed the good woTfc by presenting Irish characters that are most amusing without | being in the least degree vulgar. It j is this kind of impersonation that we j get in "Home Rule" fry Mr Taylor's : presentment of WifOy Ratify, the j Irish Gossoon. The piece wilt be played at the Town Hall. TeKniti. tonight, j and playgoers will doudbtless avail j themselves of the opportunity of see- j ing such an at<ractiva drama so admir- i ably presented. |
