MANIAPOTO RUGBY UNION

It was decided to entertain the Otoro- | hanga players at a smoke concert in the evening at Mr Hattaway's Sample '■ rooms. A discussion took place as regards amalgamating the whole King Country into one Union and it was unanimously resolved that this was most desirable and that efforts should be made to induce the Taumnfunui Union to co-operate and bring in Ongarue also. Mr Young detailed what had been done to advertise the Auckland v. Maniapoto match on September 4th. It was decided to try and arrange a match with Taumarunui on 28th August. The Taumarunui players passed through Te Kuiti on Saturday morning, on their way to play Hamilton. While at the station several members of the Maniapoto Union met them and a match %vas practically arranged for the 28th at Taumarunui, the Taumarunui team to return the vi dt later. In discussing the proposal to affiliate the two Cr.Vns, Mr Ritchrs, president of the King Country Union, seemed in favour of the idea, and it is to be hoped that any little difficulties may be overcome as I am sure it is in the true interests of the game, and will strengthen football to such an extent that we will be able to hold our own with any other Union in the province.
