TE KUITI FIRE BRIGADE.
A meeting of the Brigade v."as held in the "Chronicle" office last evening when a fair number were present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Resolved that the resignation received from Fireman Waters be accepted. The Secretary then read Captain Ford's report upon the engines and appliances that he had inspected when in Napier.—Proposed by Mr Chilcott, seconded by Mr Fortescue, that a Merryweather manual, as recommended by Captain Ford, be purchased.— Carried. Resolved thta the following necessaries be purchased: 10 feet suction hose, 500 feet hose, two branches, one union, six sets swivel couplings and two spanners. On the motion of Captain Ford, seconded by Mr Nicholson, it was resolved that the Te Kuiti Brigade affiliate with the New Zealand Association.
Resolved that a deputation, consisting of Captain Ford, Mr Fortescue and Mr Matthew, be appointed to wait upon the County Council, at their next meeting, and to ask for a subsidy of £lO to go towardsthe funds of the Brigade. Resolved that the following members be appointed as trustees for the property of the Brigade: —Messrs Boddie, Fortescue and Chilcott. Resolved that Messrs Hattaway, Pitcon and Williams be appointed to make arrangements re housing of engine and plant. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Fortescue for his work in connection with the finances of the Brigade. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
