WAIKAKA NEWS.

Own I'- 1 respondent. We nrf having a long spell of wet weather, but so far frosts have not been very severe as yet. The sweeping change made by the Roads Department is a never failing topic of conversation. When the Northern Obura County Council Election is over and the Council takes charge it is to be hoped we will have better roads. Mr G. H. Milne passed through here last week with a nice line of cattle en route for Mr Leech's farm at Mangakahikatea Valley The Obura County Council election is drawing near, and the rival candidates are preparing for the fray, which promises to be keenly contested in our riding. I hear that the roll is being finally prepared at Woodville. The Waikaka road between Mr Fletcher's and Mr Neil's is a veritable death trap at present, owing to the rotten sapling bridges. It is to be hoped temporary repairs will be effected shortly, otherwise some unfortunate will stand a chance of getting maimed for life.
