"THE FROLICS."

The Frolics Costumed Comedy Company, who are en route to Wellington, have arranged to play in the Town Hall on Tuesday night. June 22nd. This talented combination, composed of an equal number of male and female members, are specialists in harmonious part singing, concerted comedy items, quartettes, piano monologues and stories, and humorous sketches galore. The performance of no two members is alike, thus affording to their entertainment a wealth of variety, and ensuring a brilliant programme. A few particulars of the members may be of interest: Miss Alice Vaughan is a young Californian soprano, who has sung her way across America and has recently been appearing with the Manhattan Opera Company, New York. Her voice is described as a leggerio of great purity, in fact Madame Melba, before whom she recently sang, spoke of ner voice as "Truly remarkable and eminently suitable for opera bouffe." Mr Courtney Ford commenced his vocal education as a boy chori iter at St. Paul's Cathedral, London, He was one of their original characters in the famous Gotham Comedy Quartette.and as a comedian basso his performance is a revelation in every respect. Mr Edward Headlam, is recognised as one of London's leading humorists—of the Mel. B. Spur type—at the piano. He has recently come from the great metropolis where he had been giving recitals at the Queen's Hall, where his piano manipulation is spoken of as marvellous and his versatility remarkable. The tenor vocalist, Mr Selwyn Reeves, whose reputation speaks for itself, belonged to the Carl Rosa Opera Company, and the Frolics, London, where he earned the title of the "Silver bell Soloist." Miss Ida Yerex, the soubrette of the party, late of the Max Cohen Opera Company, New York, is a dainty artist, with a captivating mannerism that endears her to the audience at once. Her voice is sweetly refined. Miss Jenny Bell is the contralto whose lower register is regarded a treat in vocalisation, and Miss Paula de Vries presides at the piano. It is pointed out that the management has decided to adhere to popular prices, and these are limited to 2s and Is, with an extra booking fee of 6d for those who desire to reserve their seats, which may be done at Mr McColl's, Tobacconsit.
