HOCKEY.
We arc plvasvd to svv that enthusiasm in this game is fast spreading in our town, and we can now boast of having 2 local elevens. On Thursday afternoon, a team representing Gr.-en and Colebrook, Limited, met the Te Kuiti, the game resulting in a wtn for the "Targets" by 1 goal to nil. The following represented their respective teams.: — —Te Kuiti— Goal— Timmings. Backs McColl, Turner. Halves Allan, J. Hetct, Knccbone. Forwards—Williams, Cottell, Hire, Gresbam, Cruickshank. —"Targeta"— Coal—Munro. Backs—Johns, Davidson. Halfs Williamson, Ellison, Elliott. Forwards— Boles, Sbeppard, Kirk, Boles, gpr»gu«. The game was fast and furious from start to finish, and considering that so many of the players are only beginners, some really good play was shown. For Te Kuiti, McColl, Turner, Hetet, Williams, and Gresham were the shining lights, but the "Targets *' had them well matched with Boles, Spraguc l Johns. Ellison and Elliott. Mr J. J. Nichoteon had | charge of the whistle and conducted the game in bis usual efficient manner.
