MAORI FOOTBALL TEAM.
A Maori team of footballers is now being organised to tour Australia during the present season, and several players from Tc Kuiti have been requested to join the team. Hikaka, Tuheka and J. Hetet, and Rou Rata, of the Nehinchinui team, have been requested to make the trip. Tuheka and J. Hetet have consented to go, and there is every probability of Rou Rata joining them. The three players mentioned arc all smart backs, and can be depended upon to render a good account of themselves. Mr J. T. Hetet. senior, received a telegram on Friday asking if he would accept the position of Manager to the team. Mr Hetet replied asking for particulars, and is inclined to regard the offer favourably. Needless to say the team will be in good hands if Mr Hetet can be prevailed upon to accept the responsibility attaching to the position of manager.
