It is gratifying to see that the King Country local industries are reaching a high standard. Messrs Blackman and Cobb the Te Kuiti house furnishers, have had displayed in their windows during the week, some very handsome pieces of furniture, which are locally made, and which are in every sense a credit, to the firm. A conference of County Council delegates to discuss the state of the law with regard to the collection of rates on Native land, will be held in Auckland at the Chamber of Commerce on May 12th. Local members and the Native Minister, the Hon, James Carroll, will be invited.

Reutcr's Teheran Agency reports that a force of 2600 Russians has crossed the Persian frontier. The St. Petersburg correspondent of the "Morning Post" states that 20,000 Russian troops will shortly be quartered in Azerbijan, the north western province of Persia, of which Tabriz is the capital. The Shah has offered the Tabriz revolutionaries an amnesty and a constitution in conformity with the sacred law.

The revolutionaries are pressing for the restoration of the former constitution. Resolutions have been carried at Mass meetings in Persia demanding resistance of the Russian invasion, which is causing much alarm.
