Turkish Sultan Deposed LONDON. April 27.
Rioters* Constantinople Agency reports that the dethronement of the Sultan of Turkey. Abdul Hamid 11., has been decided upon by both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. He will be succeeded by his brother, the heir - presumptive, Mehemmed Reshad Effendi, who is now sixty-five years of age. The Sultan is accused of distributing £300,000 airong the i Palace garrison to encourage them to I resist the advance of the army of the Committee of Union and Progress. i When the Sultan's personal entouagre realised that the situation was serious and that the Palace guards bad dispersed, the whole Court fled, leaving the Sultan alone in the apartmnts of the harem. Many of his servants escaped to Asia Minor, while those remaining pillaged the Palace. The Saltan has a fortune of fifty million sterling, which is invested abroad. , It is expected that this will be utilised for placing Turkey's finances on a sound basis. The Sultan stated that the authors of the revolt against the Constitution were Liberal*, who were adherents of the Decentralisation movement, helped by the League of Mabmed. It is suspected that the ' chief promoters of the plot were the I Sultan's favourite ion. Burban-edrin, f and the chief eunuch. Naddtr Aga. Kaimil Pasha's reactionary son. Said Pasha, is a fugitive. The Sultan's personal guard, whose surrender was cabled yesterday, were today conducted, roped together, to the head-quar-ters of the Committee of Inquiry, where they will be examined as to their knowledge of the organisers of the plot to overthrow the Constitution. The soldiers at Erzeroum, in Turkish Armenia, have arrested 50 of their leaders.
Castro's Troubles PARIS. April 27. Ex-President Castro has returned to Paris. He is virtually excluded from the Western Hemisphere, having been refused a landing on British, French, and United States territory. President Gomez, the successor of ex-Presi-dent Castro, has liberated all those arrested when Castro was deposed, including those connected with the plot against the life of President Gomez.
