To Preserve Heels of Socks.

The heels of men's socks often wear out before the other parts are at all thin. The ribbed tops seldom wear. When socks are new it is a useful plan to fit a piece of the ribbed tops of old socks round the heels of the new ones, about 1} inches up, making it meet under the heels. This may seem clumsy.but if neatly sewn on with wool or cotton the same colour, it neither looks nor feels so, and may be replaced with another piece when the first is worn. The piece should be put on the right side. Damn often hurt the foot; this will not do so.
