To Make A Comforter.

This is a useful garment to wear under a jacket or cloak for extra warmth when driving etc., and easily made as follows:—Single Berlin wool, any colour, and wooden needles. Cast on 64 stitches, knit 90 rows backwards and forwards,garter fashion, then pick op the 54 stitches at end where you commenced, making 108 on the one needle, thus forming thefirst artnhole. Knit again in the same way about 108 rows to form the back, now bind off the 54 corresponding stitches to those you'took up, knit 90 rows and cast off; with a darning neede join up to form second armhole. Buttonhole six loops on edge of front at equal distances, stiteb'six pearl buttons on, placing a small piece of flannel,or'sometbing the same colour as the wool used, under each button, to strengthen it a little. If doable Berlin is used less stitches will be required in proportion.
