OHURA.
(Own Correspondent.) Tihe Ohura Settlers' Association met on the 3rd inst.. Mr Williams being in the chair. Mr Williams gave a report of the result of waiting on the Ministerof Railways re increasing accommodation at Ongarue for cattle and goods. As a result of his and Mr Lovcday"s representation" l *, the goods shed was to be enlarge iat once, and the trucking yai-rfs extended. The present rate for goods passing through the shed exceeded 85 tons per week, so that while in fine weather it was possible to remove the goods, in wet weather goods had to be unloaded in the yard causing a large amount of loss and damage. As the traffic is rapidly extending the Department should be justified in placing a station nnvtter in charge. The Minister promised to favourably consider the position, recognising the unsatisfactory system of cheeking all goods delivered. It was decided to communicate with the different Council* using papa as metal to ascertain the actual cost of burning and spreading same.so that the Association would be in a position to lay before the Minister of Roads and Bridges and different rates for metalling with gravel, papa, and using pumice so that the actual cost of work required on the Obura road could be estimated. It was resolved that the committee meet once every quarter, all meetings to be near full moon.
