OHURA VALLEY.

j (Own Correspondent.) A meeting of subscribers of the Ohura Medicai Association was held in the Mangaroa Hall to receive the balance sheet and report of the Secretary. The amount received for the two years was £644; the working expenses were £l3 14s. After all payments were made a small balance remained. The Secretary reported that owing to the result of a test case instituted to ascertain the position of the committee as to collecting subscriptions promised, the committee had made arrangements to have the Association registered under the"Unclassified Society's Act, - ' which would place them in a legal position to collect all monies promised; being now registered it was necessary to wind up the present Association. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Seerup, seconded by Mr Bruce, that the balance in hand' be transferred fp the Ohura Medical Association, registered. A vote of thanks was accorded to the secretary, Mr G. Dermison, and to the chairman, Mr Sandison, which brought to a successful close the first effort of the Ohura Settlers to obtain medical attendance for the district. Mr Mclndoe's staff of workmen are busy finishing the residence of Dr Rowlands, and in response to a request through the Settlers' Association a sum of £250 has been allocated to metal and repair on Managroa road as far as house.
