Rose Plants and Manure.

Liquid manure will benefit roses during summer months, especially if the land is poor and the plants are getting old. Its application should strengthen the plants. The following will make a good liquid manure:—Cow and horse manure, a barrowful to a 40 gallon cask; fowl manure, quarter the quantity to 40 gallons. Blood manure is best applied in dry state as it does not completely dissolve. Apply from one to two ounces per week to each plant, according to size. A quart of the liquid dilated to four quarts with water applied once a week should benefit rosea.
