AUCKLAND WOOL SALES.
♦ A Finn Market. The third and final wool safe of the Auckland season was held at Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons* stores in Albert Street on Tuesday afternoon. A total of nearly 1700 rales were offered, as against &18 bale* at the concluding sale last year. The quality of the wool offered at the February *»].- is invariably of poorer quality of thr wool than that catalogued at the November or January sales. Moat of the back country wool corner down for the final sale o"' the season, and the ureter part of Tuesday's catalogue w»3 comprised of bosh-stained fleeces. The November sale usually sees the brat wool offered, the clips from the many well-pastured and wall-cleared runs being ready for offer on that occasion. For the February auction the hackblock clips come down, and as is o*l ly natural where the runs are but partially cleared, the wool is. in the majority of cases stained. Buyers were not inclined to be over-particular, howover, and stained and bush wools met with quite a brisk demand. Choice wools were early snapped up* and ruled on a par with January prices, while stained and discoloured fkeces sold at from id to |d better values. The demand for bellies and pieces was also somewhat better. The top price was B|d. as against JPid at the Janaury sale, hot the quality of the wool offered yesterday was, ol course, nothing like that catalogued at the January sate, Lambs' wool sold well, and reached as high as B*d. Fine crossbred ranged from Td to Bfd for the best parcels; batfbred, BJd to Bfd; ofosspred, 6*d to T#d; coarse and •tikied sorts, s*d to *§d; Shropshire. Buckland and Sons secured »|d for a consignment of haifbred. the N Z Loan and Mercantile Bsd for crossbred, and Binney and Sons 8d for halfbred. ' A striking example of the fact that it P«ys» to class wool was afforded at .-•.stcrday* i sale.
