Prospecting Operations. The Government has decided to make provision for both islands being thoroughly prospected for geld by parties of mining experts. The results of the investigations cf the Government geologist, Dr J. M. Minister for Public Works, said that each party will consist of four experienced miners, who will be working entirely for the Government. The first two parties will be started almost immediately, m one in the Nelson province and the other north of Auckland. "In all probability,'" add-d the Minister, "the places where these parties are at work will be temporarily reserved from mining areas, and any discoveries made by the per tie? will he-long- to the Crown.
