THE DAIRYING INDUSTRY.

J Proposed r'iopio Factory, j A movement is on foot among the j settlers interested, to stert a dairy I factory at Piopio. It is estimated that i cows to the number of at least five or six hundred would be available to supply a factory, and an effort is to be made to establish the industry on cooperative lines. The districts affected would be Piopio, Paemako. Mar.gakohai, and portion of 3lairoa. Many of the settlers are already engaged in the industry by means to home separators, and it is felt that the time is Ape to lay the foundation of the dairying intra-stra-in the district on broader and more permanent lines. It is proposed to obtain a site for a factory at or about the Piopio junction, and there is little doubt the position is admirably adapted for the general convenience of the majority o' settlers. Attention is being directed to the matter now in the hope of being able to get a factory started in time to start operations at the beginning of next season. By that time there is every prospect of the roads being in better order than previously, and each year thereafter should see an improvement in that respect. We understand that Mr F. R. Waters of Te Kuiti is moving in the matter, and a meeting -. ill shortly be held to discuss the proAcr.
