OHURA VALLEY.
(Own Correspondent.) A targe meeting of ratepayers met 111 the Managaroa Hall on the evening of the 2nd to, decide on the boundaries of tba various ridings. Mr Lot«l»y, M Chairman of the Settlers, Aa»»elation, presided. The Chairman ex.plafoed that too great importance need not be placed on the present boundaries, as they would undoubtedly be altered at an ear'y date, owing to the cbrngtag vahses e4 the district. Abo. aa the final decision tay with the Minister of the Interior, although he had no doubt but that the setters' wishes would be givtn foil consideration and the> boundaries as recommended by the settlers adhered to. Alter constderable discussion on a few mnior point*, and two slight alterations* the boundaries were accepted for recommendation to the Minister. Mr Loveday read a telegram from the Clerk of the Wangaawanena County Council. ashing for the co-operation of the Ohtwa settlers in a project to get the Prime Minister aa Minister of Lands, and the Minister for Roads and Bridges to traverse the country opened op by the OngareeStratford Railway, so that they could see and judge of the progress of the varioo* districts passed throegl:. A reply bad been sent, assuring hhn of the strong support of the Ohora set-, lers. The question of a fitting reception to the party was ffr.alty decided by the appointment of a strong committee to arrange for a suitable banquet on the occasion, and a working committee of five, consisting of the following gentlemen, were elected to arrange the business: -Messrs Bruce, Meßae, Meredith, Sandison. Stevenson (Secretary), and McAvady (Chairman). It was decided that the price of admission be one pound if by ticket, and one pound five shillings if paid a the door. The banquet to be contingent on a Cabinet Minister visiting tfett Olmta. Tba Ohora Medical Association met the same eVening. *he secretary re per ting that the preliminary work had been done on the section for doctor's residence, and that Messrs Kelly Bros, wove delivering the timber satisfactorily, and the building would be erected without any delay. Arrangements wore made to issue the debentures for cost of erecting residence, and to call op the whole of the amount guaranteed as doctor's subsidy This was deemed essential as the amount of work involved in making several calls wao out of proportion to the amount to collect,and was the cause of a lot of unnecessary work for the secretary.
