ARIA.

(Own Correspondent.)

The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr Simpson) visited Aria on Wednesday, 27th January, and conducted a very successful sale of township and suburban sections, some of the sections fetching very fair prices, which goes to show that Aria is a very promising district, and will doubtless be heard a great deal more of in the future. The dairy factory is now in full swing, and has increased considerably as regards the output of butter, which is now about four boxes per .'diem, as against two boxes earlier in the season. It is commonly reported about this district that the genial and popular factory manager (Mr T. H. Goodwin) is shortly to be married. We all hope that his cup of happiness will always be full to the brim. The annual sports meeting is to be held at the Racecourse on the 11th February, and judging from the number of entries from all parts- of the district, should be a distinct success. The surrounding settlers are feeling some anxiety in regard to the bush burns, which will be considerably retarded, unless the weather, which has been exceptionally boisterous, takes up very shortly. It is to be hoped that.it does so, as, if the burns are successful this.year, it will undoubtedly mean a vast increase in. the local dairying in-. dus.trj' for nexkyfear. v
