SHEEP WORRYING.
A matter of extreme importance to both town arid district hi the shape of sheep-worrying was referred to at the last meeting of the Te Kuiti branch of the Farmers' Union, and it is to be hoped the local authorities will take to cope with the evil. From time to time complaints are heard of sheep being worried in close proximity to the town, and serious losses in some instances have been sustained by settlers. In the back country, happenings of this description are> possibly, no less frequent, but the offenders are more readily coped with. The rigorous enforcement of the dog tax in respect to European owned dogs, and-a proper understanding with the Maori Council as' to Native owned canines is an imperative necessity. The matter,is a serious one to the settlers* and should be given prompt attention by the County Council. .'•
