PRAISE FROM AMERICA.
.This extract from a San Francisco letter dated October 21, was received yesterday by Messrs Heather, Roberton and Co.: —"Since writing you last on 23rd ult., we received the 'Weekly Graphic' fleet number, for which we are ever so much obliged. We have | perused same with the greatest of inI terest, and our hearts went out towards : our English brethren in appreciation | of the welcome they had given our fleet. This edition is not only a credit to the editor, but it speaks well of the enterprise of your city, and we must confess beats anything we hove seen in this country." The following letter, received by the 'Frisco mail, will doubtless be as gratifying to our citizens at large as it is to our musicians and the proprietors of the 'Graphic" - -"Pacific Grove, Monterey County, California. October 15th, 1908. *The 'Weekly Graphic,' Auckland, New Zealand. Gentlemen,-- -Nothing could have done more to make Americans acquainted with their relations across the Pacific than the visit of the battleship fleet to your waters. My son, who is an officer on board the U.S.S. Winconsin, -writes the most glowing accounts of the warmth and sincerity of their reception. He was fortunate enough to accompany Admiral Sperry upon the occasion of the official reception, and was especially pleased with the music. The orchestra was magnificent, and never was the 'Star Spangled Banner' more beautifully rendered and sung than on that occasion. He sent me a copy of the 'Weekly Graphic' of August 12, and it was so superior to anything of the sort I have seen before that I am anxious to secure a copy of your issue of August 19. Enclosed plesae find P.O. money order for 18cts, which I believe is sufficient to cover the cost of the paper, a i well as 6cts. for postage. Yours truly, J. P. Pryor." \
