Hon. McGowan Retires.

Sir Joseph Ward, Prime Minister, retains his former portfolios of Finance, Postmaster-General, Minister of Telegraph and Defence, and/also takes over Departments of Lands and Agriculture, and Land Settlement. He gives up Departments of Friendly Societies, Advances to Settler, Old Age Pensions and Public Trustee. Mr Carroll retains' his former Departments, and takes in addition tile administration of the Cook Islands,aad Advances to Settlers Department. Mr Millar retains his former pottfolio of Marine, and is appointed Minister for Railways, and Minister in charge of Friendly Societies, and the Inspection of Machinery Department. Mr Fowlds retains his former portfolio or Education, and is appointed - - Minister for Immigration,and Minister" in charge of Mental and* General Hospitals, and Fire Insurance Department. v Dr Findlay retains the AttorneyGeneralship, and is appointed Minister of Justice, and in charge of the Law Department. Mr Roderick McKenzie is appointed to the portfolio of Public Works and Mines.

Mr Hogg is Minister for Labour and Customs, and Minister in charge-«f Roads and Bridges, and Government Printing Office. Mr Buddo is appointed Minister .for Internal Affairs and Public !Health,and in charge of the Valuation and Old Age Pension Departments. Mr Thomas Mackenzie is appointed Minister for Industries and Commerce without pay, and Minister in charge of the Tourist, Scenery and Forestry Departments. Mr Ngata is appointed Member of the Executive Council for Native races and takes charge of the Public Trust Office, Government Insurance, and Accident Insurance, and Councils. Mr McGowan resigns all his portfolios, and also his seat in the Lower House, and is appointed by the Governor to-day to the Legislative Council.
