OPARURE SPORTS.
The above sports took place at Mangatea, near Oparure, on Thursday of last week, and were well attended, about 200 people being present. The events were well contested and an enjoyable day was spent, the secratary, Katu Tohiariki, being instrumental in getting the events off punctually. The following are the results: - 100 Yards. —Ruruanga 1, Tuku Tane 2. Maiden Race.- -Tu Mahe 1, .Karena 2. Hop, Step, and Jump.— Hawera 1, Tukutane 2. Handicap Chgp.—Rerehau 1, Karena 2. 220 Yards.--F. Gemming 1, T. Anderson 2. Maiden Horse Race. —Whitikau 1, Hatu 2. Half-Mile Race.—F. Gemming 1, Puku Anderson 2. 12inch Chop. -Tiki 1, Hio 2. High Jump.- -Tame Puku 1, Tukutane 2. 12inch Chop. -To Wiwini 1. Underhand Chop. Berkahm 1, Tanakoa 2.
