STOCK SALES.
The New Zealnd Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report:- - We held our usual fortnightly sale at Ohaupo on Tuesday last, when a good yarding of cattle came forward. and nearly all sold. Although heavy rain fell all the morning there was a fair attendance, hut no doubt many were prevented from coming on this account. Grown steers made from £6 to £7; 2 to 21 year eld steers, £3 7s Gd to £4; 18 months to 2 year old steers, £2 13s to £2 17s 6d ; 15 months steers, £2 to £2 9s; empty store cows, £2 5s to £3; according to condition ; 2 year old empty heifers, £2 9s to £2 15s; calves, 15s to £1; ewes and lambs 13s: hoggets, lis.
At Matamata on Wednesday we offered 700 cattle of all classes and 1000 sheep. There was a good demand, and all changed hands except a few pens of forward steers and cows. Three year old steers in low condition made £3 15s: 2 to 2\ year old steers, £3 6s to £3 13s; IS month to 2 year old steers, £2 16s to £3 4s; 15 month steers, £2 5s to £2 7s; mixed sexes, £ll 5s to £2: 2 year old empty heifers £2 6s to £2 lis; 15 months heifers, £1 6s to £1 lis; fat cows, £4 10s to £4 15s; forward cows, £3 12s 6d to £3 17s 6d; fresh stores, £2 10s to £2 15s; calves, 15s 6d. Sheep: Shorn wethers, , 12s 9d; hoggets, 8s 6d; hoggets in wool, 12s Gd. Pigs: Porkers, £ll Is; slips, 15s to £1 Is; weaners, 6sto 10s; two harness horses made £l2 10s and £ls; ponies, £1 to £3. A Cambridge on Friday we had a full yarding of cattle. The beef pens contained 189 head, with 570 stores; also sheep and pigs. Buyers were present from Paeroa, Hikutaia, Putaruru, Matamata, Te Kuiti, and surrounding districts, and we report a most successful sale. Competitoin was keen throughout, and all sold ,at most satisfactory figures. Fat steers sold from £7 10s to £8 8s; do. light weights, £6* 16s to £6 18s; fat cows, best quality. £5 12s 6d to £6 ss; others, £4 7s 6d to £4 16s; heifers, £4 12s 6d to £5 2s 6d ; grown steers in forward condition, £6 19s; 3 year old steers, £4 7s 6d to £4 175.; 2to 2\ year steers in forward conditon, £5 15s; 18 month steers, £2 19s to £3 Is; empty cows in forward condition, £2 14s to £3 7s; 15 to 18 month old heifers, £1 5s to £1 15s; calves, 15s to £1 Is;. Sheep: Fat wethers, 15s 9d; ewes, 13s; ewes and lambs, 15s. Pigs: Slips, 15s to £l. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report : Cattle : At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday cattle of all descriptions were yarded in full numbers. Dairycows "sold at from £3 lOs to £6 15s ; heifers, £3 5s to £5 15s ; empty cows, £2 lOs to £3 /s 6d; calves, 18s to £l 9s. Fat cattle were yarded in large numbers and sold at scarcely last week's rates. Steers sold at from £6 to £9 I2s 6d ; cows, £3 ios to £6 15s. The fat cattle were of good quality throughout. Sheep : Sheep were penned in full numbers at New-market on -Tuesdajr, well-fatted wethers fetching from 13s 6d to 18s 3d; other sorts, los< to I2s 9d; ewes, 9s 6d to 16s 3d. Lambs were in full supply and they sold well. Well-fatted changed hands at from ios 3d to 16s 3d ; other sorts, 7s 9d to 9s 6d ; store lambs in low condition, 2s 9d to 6s 6d. Tigs : Porkers sold at from 19s 6d to £1 18s; weaners, 7s 6d to 18s; baconers, £2 2s to £3 7s 6d.
