TE KUITI SCHOOL.
Presentation of Prizea.
Breaking up time is always a red letter day in the school history of any boy or girl, and when it 'is • fittingly celebrated by the presentation of prizes and a school picnic, the cup of youthful [happiness is usually filled to the brim. The annual picnic and presentation of prizes of the Te Kuiti public school took place on Friday Ipst. Ideal weather favoured the gathering, and there was a large assemblage of parents in the school grounds during the afternoon. Shortly after lunch the school sports were got off under the supervision of the headmaster, Mr E. A. Power, and the school commissioner, Mr Jer. Ormsby. Races were provided for the various classes from Primer I to Standard VI, and the events provided great interest for both children and parents. After the sports the children were fregaled with suitable refreshments, and afternoon tea was provided for the parents. The prizes for the various standards were then presented to the winners by Mr Ormsby, the fortunate recipients being greeted with rounds of applause by their school mates. An adjournment was then made to the school where Christmas Trees had been erected in the diffrent class rooms. The trees were laden with suitable gifts, sufficient to provide a momento of the occasion for each scholar. The distribution of the gifts was concluded about 5 o'clock, and the children dispersed to their various homes tired but happy.
