Mr O'Dwyer presided. The first matter introduced was concerning the Paekaka Road. The chairman in his opening remarks briefly pointed out the importance of this road to settlers, and the necessity for its completion. As it stands at present there is 1 mile 17 chains to be formed before the road can be of use. The chairman stated that not only will this road be of great service to settlers and others, but will :nable the children of those settlers living at the far end of the road to attend the district school. At present, such children are not within reach of any school. It was then proposed by Mr Power and seconded by Mr Slines —"That this meeting urge upon the Government the desirability and the necessity for the completion of the road. This motion was carried unanimously. It was then moved that a petition be sent to the Government.

Mr Robison proposed that Messrs Anderson and O'Dwyer be appointed to draw up the petition. This was seconded by Mr Evans and the motion was carried.

The subject of a bi-weekly mail was then introduced r and warm discussion followed. A resolution was passed that this meeting of settlers request Mr Jennings to again further urge upon the Government the necessity of a bi-weekly mail to the several districts, namely:—Piopio, Mairoa, Mangaotaki, Eaemako, Mahoenui, Kaeaea and Aria. Considerable discussion eventuated over the question of alteration of the Registrar's boundaries, but as this matter had been dealt with at a previous meeting of settlers nothing fresh was done. The matter is in the hands of Messrs O'Dwyer and Elliott, who are proceeding apace with it. The meeting then closed by extending a vote of thanks to the chairman.

At this meeting Mr Anthony made a few remarks upon picnic matters. He mentioned that tradespeople and others have donated most liberally in the way of prizes for the Boxing Day picnic. He stated that good arrangements have been made for the carrying out of a good programme, and a pleasant and an enjoyable day is anticipated.
