The severity of the weather in places last week, may be imagined from the fact that snow "was experienced from Horopito to Turangarere on the Main Trunk line. In some places it was two inches deep.
The monthly meteoroligical return from Mr G. Wratten, at Waitomo, shows that in November rain fell on eleven davs, and the total rainfall for the month was 3.12 inches. The prevailing wind was westerly, with a period in the middle of the month, of north-westerly breezes.
In connection with the election for the Western Maori seat it is stated thatPepene Eketone, who came second on the list of candidates at the poll, intends entering a petition to have the poll declared void in consequence of certain irregularities.
