KAWHIA COUNTY ELECTION.

Declared Void.

Keen interest was taken in tfce inquiry into the validation of the recent county elections, heard before Mr Cutten, S.M., on Wednesday. Mr Swarbrick appeared for petitioners and Mr Gillies for the Council. After evidence and legal argument had been heard, His Worship decided that th election must be voided on account of the fact that there was no minute of Mr Barton's appointment as returning oflicer. Another election will take place about Christmas time. Mr C. Haylock will oppose the chairman Mr Shaw, for the Waiharakeke riding, and Mr James Kearns will oppoße Mr J. P. Wright for the Taharoa riding.
