Testifying in connection with the New York inquiry' into the Oil Trust, Mr John D. Rockefeller stated that the original capital was £11,200,000. The trust had paid £118,000,000 in dividends, and still held a surplus of £60,000,000. The profits for 1907, he added, totalled £19,000,000. The stockyards at Buffalo, have been closed, pending the investigation of the foot and mouth disease. The States of Pennsylvania and New York have been quarantined,
