KAWHIA.
(Own Correspondent.)
-Mr. W. T. Jennings had a splendid meeting here on Wednesday night, Mr Jonathan, Chairman of the Town Board, presiding. The candidate spoke at length, and was given a good hearing. He dealt fully with the Maori Lands question and the need for settling that problem. Kawhia district would be certain to go ahead by leaps and bounds if matters were dealt with fully, and more rapidly. The settling of the Native Lands would be beneficial alike to the district and the Dominion as a whole. The speaker said he anticipated much good from the legislation framed last session. A vote of thanks and confidence was carried by acclamation Mr G. 11. McKenzie of Oparau being the mover and Mr R. Gregg cf Kiritehere the seconder.
