PAEMAKO.

o (Own Correspondent.) On Saturday evening, October 17th, a meeting of settlers was held at MiAnderson's house. Matters of general interest were discussed, and the balance sheet of last Settlers' Picnic was dealt with. A slight loss was shown on the picnic, but this was compensated by a profit from the social. It was decided to hold a picnic this year 011 Boxing Day, and a representative

General Committee was formed, every

centre having a voice on the Comrnittee. The social will be held on New Year's eve. The executive committee controlling the picnic and social consists of Messrs Elliott, Andrews, Sin cock, Johnston, Bevege, Sunvick, A. Brough, Northcote and McDonald. Considerable discussion eventuated over the question of alteration of Registrar's boundaries, and it was unanimously decided that Messrs Elliott and O'Dwyer forward a resolution to Mr Jennings, urging an alteration of present boundaries. The question of a mail twice a week from Te Kuiti to Aria and Piopio gave rise to much discussion, and the meeting decided that the time is ripe for the introduction of increased postal facilities, and improved mail service, and the following resolution has been forwarded to the Postmaster General, at Wellington : —-"That the urgent need for a biweekly mail is imperative, and the meeting greatly regrets that the authorities refused to grant it, and would request the Postmaster General to reconsider the matter, as it is felt that the progress and rapid develop-

ment of the district warrants the service." The meeting extended to Mr

Elliott a cordial vote of thanks for his valuable assistance to the last picnic, and Mr Anthony was elected Secretary to the picnic and social Committee for the ensuing year.
