STRATFORD-MAIN TRUNK RAILWAY.
1 At the conclusion of the meeting 3 called to receive the report of the Te - Kuiti delegates on the recent Townships deputation Mr Boddie introduced 1 the subject of the Straford-Main Trunk 3 Railway. Referring to the fact that the Government had decided to deviate , the line, and connect with the Main Trunk at a point much further north, 5 and yet to be determined, Mr Boddie } strongly adovcated the claims of Te ' j Kuiti, and exhorted those present to , use every effort to have Te Kuiti made * , the junction. He pointed but the iffl» ? ■ petus which would be given to the dis- , tricfe by- reason of starting the work at ; the Northern end, and benefits which , would accrue through having the junction at Te Kuiti, which was the recognised commercial centre of the district. It was resolved unanimously that those present form themselves into a League, to.be called the Te Kuiti Railway League, with the object of making Te Kuiti the point of junction Of the Stratford-Main Trunk Line. The following officers and executive were ! appointed: Preident-Mr J. Boddie. Vice-President—Mr J. Ormsby. Secre- ' tary—Mr J. Steel. Committee—Messfo Darrow, Fortescue, Phillips, Lorigan adn Johnson. The subscription to tho League was fixed at half a crown and a considerable ■ amount Was collected in the room. ' *
