TE AWAMUTU TOWN BOARD.
__—oThe regular meeting of the above Board took place on Friday evening last. There were present: Messrs J. B. Teasdale, chairman, S,. Mathews, H. Y. Collins and D. Bockett. Saleyards: The chairman reported on his interview with Messrs Storey and Heywood re the erection of the new saleyards.—The matter was left in the chairman's hands to obtain further particulars. Bridge Loan: Mr Bockett proposed, and Mr Collins seconded "that the special order made on the 6th August last, providing interest and sinking fund on this loan be confirmed. —Carried unanimously. Dominion Day: The Premier wired stating that it is desired that the first anniversary of Dominion Day should be fittingly celebrated on Saturday, 26th inst. Decided to support the movement.
Subsidy: The Treasury notified the Board that the sum of £33 lis had been paid to the credit of the Board, being subsidy on rates collected. Licensing Expense: The Hamilton Town Clerk wrote asking the Board for its contribution of £22 4s towards the licensing expenses. The Clerk was instructed to request that statement be furnished showing the different allocation of expenses; and when this was furnished a cheque would be forwarded.
Post Office: It was decided to communicate with the Postmaster General asking him to have the addiions to the Post Office commenced at once as the telephone exchange could not be opened until there was sufficient accommodationio provided at the Post Office. Opening Main Trunk Line: It was resolved to write to the Hon. W. Hall Jones asking him to give effect to the Board's suggestion to the Premier to have the formal opening at Te Awamutu.
