GHURA RAILWAY.
BY TELEGRAPH. (Own Correspondent.) "Wellington. When the Auckland Railway League interviewed the Minister last, week Mr Jennings put in a strong claim for starting the Stratford Main Trunk Auckland connection from the Northern end. He said he was sure that if south Auckland people would not sink all differences and be united for a start somewhere at the northern end. they would be left in the lurch. He had asked for a report of the trial survey en the proposed deviation, and was informed that it was not yet prepared; that meant nothing being done this year, while other lines were being pushed on. The Stratford-Ongarue authorised line was being pushed on with great expedition from the southern end, while nothing was being done at the northern side owing to the question of rival routes. Mr Jennings again urged the Minister to make a pronouncement one way or the other. The Hon. Hail-Jones replied that every care and expedition was being exercised over the matter, and Cabinet would see that South Auckland would not be forgotten. '
