The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report as follows: —
At Ngaruawahia last Wednesday we yarded 600 head of cattle. There was a good attendance, and a good inquiry for all classes: 61 head of beef penned sold readily. Fat steers realised £3 to £8 2s 6d; forward cows £4 6sot£s 2s; 2 year steers £4 12s to £4 16s; 18 months steers £3 3s; yearling steers £2 2s to £2 7s 6d; mixed sexes 27s to 395; cows with calves £3; 18 months empty heifers 35s to £2 2ms 6d; springing cows and heifers up to £5 ss. We held at clearing sale at Hinuera last Thursday, on account of Mr James Bertram, and have to report a very successful sale. There was a large attendance of neighbouring settlers, and brisk bidding throughout; 4, 6, and 8 tooth ewes in lamb sold from 13s 5d to 15s Id; dairy cows £6 2s 6d to £7 ss; heifers £5 10s; light and medium draughts £22 to £27 10s; hacks up to £18; 3 year unbroken light horses £9 10s; Cambridge roller £ls; tip dray £lO 10s; mower 1£0; roadster trap £l7; The furniture and sundries made the usual prices. On Friday we held a clearing sale at Shaftsbury, on account of Mr W. R. Gage Brown, when satisfactory prices were realised. There was a large attendance. Dairy cow r s sold from £5 to £8; others £4 to £4 ss; yearlings £2 3s; empty cows £2 ss; fresh conditioned empty heifers £4 2s; 5 year draught mare £36; aged draught £18; hacks £ll 5s ot £l3; fowls 2s to 3s 6d. At Hamilton, on Thursday, August 27th, we had a yarding of 470 sheep, 52 pigs, 109 fat cattle, and 200 store and dairy cattle. The fat cattle comprised the best yarding we have had for months, and sold freely, good quality steers and heifers making 24s per 1001b. Steers made from £6 5s to £lO ss; cows and heifers £4 to £6 16s; choice 18 months steers £2 17s 6d to £3 3s; yearling steers £2 5s yearling heifers 30s to 355; empty 2 year heifers £2 6s; best dairy cows £5 to £6 15s; others £3 5s to £4 15s; best fat wethers 18s 7d to 19s; forward wethers 14s 6d to 16s 6d; store wethers 13s 6d; weaner pigs 7s 6d to 13s; slips 20s to 23s 6d; larger store pigs 23s 6d to 365.
On Saturday, August2 9th. we held a clearing sale at Ohinewai, on behalf of Mr E. V. Ralph. Dairy cows made from £3 to £6; 2 year heifers £3 5s to £4 10s; yearling heifers £2 7s 6d to £3 12s 6d; 3 year medium draught filly £3O ; draught foal £l6; aged draught mare £22.
