OTOROHANGA S.M. COURT.
Thursday, August 27TH, 1908,
(Before Mr E. C. Cutten, S.M.)
Three first offenders, for being drunk on the 10th of August, were ordered to pay 7s. costs Karana Thompson, charged with threatening behaviour in a public place pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidence he was convicted and fined £1 and costs £1 10s 6d.
/ A young man was charged with drunkenness and indecent exposure. Mr Hine defended. For drunkenness he was conivcted and fined £2 and costs 7s, The other charge the Magistrate dismissed.
Te Whero Whero charged with being found on licensed premises during the currency of a prohibition order was convicted and fined £2 and costs £2 2s 6d.
Heu Heu Tawhiao, who was charged with assaulting Tawa Tawa Hemara on July 4th, was convicted and fined £1 and costs 16s. He was further charged with drunkenness, and supplying liquor to a female Maori. Convicted on both charges and fined 10s and cots 9s 6d for drunkenness and £2 and costs £1 16s for the other offence.
Duncan Campbell was charged that on the 10th day of August, at Otorohanga, he supplied liquor to a male Maori, who was already under the influence of liquor, and further charged that he did supply liquor to Hone Tahuei, a Maori, for consumption off the premises. He was convicted on the first charge, and fined £2 and costs £1 4s 6d. On the second charge the police offered no evidence and the case was withdrawn. Constable Fraser conducted the cases for the prosecution. CIVIL CASES. William Standish v. George Colville : Claim for commission for sale of property. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £BO 0s 6d, and costs £9 I2s 4d. Notice of appeal was given by the defendant. Mr Hine appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Collins for defendant. Hubert Hine v. Mason and Patu Patu : Claim £5 5s for services rendered by him as solicitor for the defendants. Judgment was given for plaintiff for full amount claimed, and costs £2 3s 2d. H. Isaac v. Hone Te Whau: Claim £2 19s 2d. Judgment for plaintiff and costs £1 10s.
