KAEAEA.
(Own Correspondent). The ordinary meeting of the Mokauiti Branch of the N.Z. Farmers' Union was held at Kaeaea on Wednesday the 26th inst., Mr Elwood presiding. The attendance of members was fair, but owing to an unfortunate circumstance the meeting had not been widely advertised. Notice of the meeting failed to reach the "Chronicle" in time to be inserted in the previous issue, therefore those members who depend on that channel for notice of the Branch's meeting were not present. Before opening the meeting to ordinary business the Chairman referred to the sudden death of the late Mr Wm. Bredenbeck, who had been an active member of the branch since its inception, and who Mr Elwood further remarked was possessed of some very fine qualities of character, which had placed him high in the esteem of union members, and the community in general. The Chairman then moved a motion of sympahty which was put and carried, the members ail standing. The Secretary was instructed to write, conveying the sympathy of the branch to the deceased gentleman's parents. The meeting then adjourned for ten minutes as a mark of respect. Business arising from correspondence was dealt with. A letter was received from Mr W. T. Bowater notifying the Branch of his candidature in the opposition and farming interests at the forthcoming election, and also stating a number of the chief planks in his platform. The Secretary was instructed to acknowledge the letter. Trre meeting then closed with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
