OTOROHANGA.
(Own Correspondent). A public meeting was held on Saturday evening last when the delegates at the recent Townships' Conference placed before the public the results of their deliberations. The meeting was largely attended by ratepayers and others interested in the welfare of the town. Mr C. J. Johnson was voted to the chair. A vote of condolence and heartfelt sympathy was passed to Mr John Ormsby, one of the delegates, who on the evening of the meeting lost his daughter, who had been ill for some considerable time. Mr H. M. Quinn proposed that Mr. John Ormsby be asked to proceed to Wellington, as the local representative, to interview the Government regarding the present unsatisfactory land tenures in the King Country townships. The motion was seconded bv Mr Forster and carried. It was also resolved that the ratepayers in the township be asked to subscribe £lO towards paying Mr Ormsby's expenses. Several subscriptions for this object were tendered at the meeting. The question of the local Domain was also discussed, and the present trustees were rather severely criticised owing to their present state of semi-somnol-ence regarding Domain affairs. The necessity for a creamery being erected in or near the town was also brought forward by those interested in dairying, but owing to the lateness of the season it is not likely that anything will be done in the matter this year. In all probability a creamery will be put up ready for next season, either on cooperative lines, or by a well known company. ,
