Some came beck highiy delighted with their outing ; some much disappointed. especially with' the procession. The coach proprietors had to put on extra coacnes to cope with the traffic. After three weeks frost and _ sunny weather, the rain set in last Monday and continued to come down pretty hard through the night, and then on Tuesday morning the sun once_ again shone forth in ail its glory, reminding one of spring. Building is still brisk._ Mr. F. Fellow has got part of his timber on tne ground for a fine eight roomed house. Mr De Cock moved into his new house last week. Mr_ Mathison has also added to the numberwith a sixroomed house in Col Lege Street. Mr Merryweath is also having a house erected in Alexandra street, Messrs Wheeler and Irvine are the contractors. Improvements are also being" made to Mr Packet's place. Diphtheria is at present prevalent in the district, and it is hoped that the malady will not spread, as it is at present confined to one house. The telephone poles have been put up from the post-office to the Railway Station.
