OTOROHANGA.

(Own Correspondent). The bachelors of Otorohanga gave one of the most successful balls ever held here. The hall was beautifully decorated with ferns, nikaus, and ! bunting, the music was excellent, and the supper which was laid out in Mr. Caters spacious dining room) was simply perfection. The catering was in the capable hands of Mr. Elliott. The secretary (Mr. R. Ormisby) who, with an energetic committee, worked so hard to bring the ball to such a successful issue, should feel very gratified. The ladies were all beautifully gowned,' and their gay dresses helped to enhance the scene. Matthews, white embroidered evening dress, red roses on corsage; Mrs. Bichop, pale pink brocade evening dress ; Mrs. Forster, black silk relieved with red ; M°s. Cowley, black silk ; Mrs. Hyde, pale yellow, black trimming ; Mrs. Johnson, black silk ; Mrs. Farker, black silk relieved with cream lace; Miss Dunning, pale blue glace silk evening dress ; Miss Johnson, pale blue evening dress, prettilv trimmed with white silk lace; Miss Jennings, pretty blue floral muslin relieved with black; Miss Taylor, cream lace over pale blue silk ; Miss Wilkinson, pale pink nuns' veiling, relieved with cream lace; Miss "Mitchell, fawn coloured lace over blue, blue trimmings; Miss Chalmers black silk; Miss Cater, cream nuns' veiling; Miss W. Tohnson, pale blue silk trimmed with lace ; Miss E. Cater, white muslin relieved with pink ; Miss S. Cater, white Muslin, Miss Board, white silk evening dress ; Miss Syme, white silk evening dress ; Miss D. Syme, black evening dress, Miss Handyside, cream cashmere evening dress ; Miss Kerr, weite nuns' veiling ; Miss Morrissey, white muslin.
