MATIERE.
A public meeting was held at Matiere on Saturday last to form a Medical Association for the Northern Ohura. Mr J. Lyon was voted lo the chair, and reported that they had, as a result of the canvas, obtained guarantees totalling about £240. He had also waited upon the Premier, who had promised a subsidy of £IOO a year for two years. The Niho Niho district had not yet been canvassed, but he thought they could safely go on with the proposal to obtain a doctor, and proposed that an Association to be called the North Ohura Medical Association be formed and registered under the " Unclassified Societies Act," and also, that the High Commissioner be written to re the procuring of a suitable young doctor. The motion was seconded by Mr W. A. Carter and carried unanimously. The following resolutions were also carried :
Proposed by Mr Carter, seconded by MrSymomP, that Mr.l. Lyon be appointed secretary and that his residence be the registered ollice.

Propor*cd by Mr Picheno, seconded by Mr Carter. that the district be divided into the following Wards to elect Executive Committee : Matiere, Xiho X'iho. Whcmiakura, Mangapapa and M angakahikatea and that each elect one member.
Proposed by Mr Lyon, seconded by Air Carter, that meetings be held in the various wards on the Ilth inst. to elect core,mittee. and that the first meeting of the Executive be held at Matiere on the ISt h inst.
