SOCIAL AT TE KUITI.
I On Thursday evening last a very I successful social \v;:s tendered to Mrs. I Bowden in the Te Kuiti Hall. The building was well tilled, the number being considerably augmenied by visitors from Otorohanga, Hangitiki. !Te Awamutu and surrounding district. Mr. Elliott acted as chairman. The following programme was rendered ;—Overture, orchestra : song, "Will 'o the Wisp," Mr. Blackmail: song. "Sunshine and Rain." Miss Bond; song, "Adeline," Mr. W. 'J'inner ; vocal duet, " The Wind and the Harp." Mrs. and Miss Melling: song. " In the Valley of Kentucky," Mr. E. Kerr; song, "The Swallows," Mrs. ! Julian: recitation. "Cricket! at killaloo," Mr. E!Kv)it; song, "Land of Hope and Glorv," Mrs. Baker; song, ■"What Might Have Been," Mr. Bathurst; song, •'•'Doreen." Mr. C, Johnston ; song, "..Absent," Miss Kerr; song, "Island of Dreams," 11. Poutawera : song, " The Dear Little Shamrock," Mr. Bathurst : song, "The Mission of the Rose," Miss Bond. During the musical part of the nro- ! gramme the accompaniments were ! played by Miss Bcswiek. Messrs Nic- | iiolson, Turner and Hetei, the latter j also supplying the dance music. After | the concert the hall was cleared and i a most enjoyable dance was indulged in. and was kepi up vigorously till the small hours o( the morning. The committee of ladies and gentlemen ! deserve every credit for the manner in I which they organised the whole of the cvenjng's enjoyment. The amount take<n at the door was £> los.; this, together wph the sale oi tickets and subscription to come to hand, will make a very handsome sum to be disposed of in the manner stated above, I
