Notes.
For the winning team Brown, at full, played a safe game. The threequarter line played a hard game, but Tohe and Hikaka were conspicuous for their good defence and strong runs. The forwards all played strenuous games, Mangu, Cotter, Elliott, Hira and Ruru Bell, being always in the van in the rushes. For the Carpenters Graham, at full, played a sterling game. The three-quarter line, consisting of F. Kerr, J. Hetet and C. Hereford, played a good passing game, and the try registered by F. Kerr, was the result of good following up. The forwards also played hard games, though handicapped by novices to rugby. Moody, Creamer, Vause and Tuheka all played good games in the forward division.
It is intended to play another match between the same teams and Saturday week, June 20th, will probably be the date fixed for the contest. It is intended to make the game a benefit match for Mrs Bowden, and it is to be hoped a good muster will be made.

Hereford, Graham, F. Kerr; fiveeights, Creamer; half, Vause; wings, Cleaver, Cotter; forwards, Munro, Keeley, Thorburn, Poole, I. Kerr. E. Kerr? J. Pitcon. Emergencies : Silcock, Taylor, F. Kerr, Taylor.

The visitors demonstrated that they had a strong back combination, but their vanguard was no match for that of the "All Blacks." _ Future games should all be interesting, but at present it appears as though all the test games, and most of the provincial fixtures, will go to New Zealand.
The British team recorded their third win on Wednesda} 1 ", when they defeated Canterbury by 12 points to
