Notes.

The individual play calls for little mention, the game being of the scrambling order, and mainly confined to the forwards. For the winners F. Kerr, Graham and Vaure rendered good service among the backs. The forwards, to a man worked hard, but Silcock was always promftient, as were Cleaver and Cotter, in the open rushes. On appearances the Maori team should have won, but apparently lacked the necessary combination to make use of the opportunities afforded by their superiority in the scrums. The backs fielded the ball and kicked well, but should have worked close together, and gone in for attacking. All the backs did fair defensive work. The forwards carried too much weight for their opponents in the 9crums, and should have heeled out more. Thcv practically had possession of the ball in every scrum, but failed to make use of their opportunities fcr either heeling ouf or screwing the serum. With a little more practice together they should prove a formidable combination.

At Pio Pio the local team met Oparure and had considerably the best of matters throughout, eventually winning by 22 points to nil.

The following will represent Piopio in the match against Nehinehinui on Saturday : —Elwood, Coburn, Campbell, Tumanako, Rako, Peehi, Old, Waho, Anderson, Moir, Riddle, Elliot, Julian, Winiata, Elwood.
