RAILWAY MISHAP.

Brake Van Overturned.

On Wednesday, May 13th, a ballast train proceeding from Te Kuiti in the direction of Frankton met with an accident, the brake van and one of the trucks leaving the line, the van being completely overturned. A number of men employed on the permanent way were travelling in the van, and with the exception of W. H. Rickard, ballast ganger, and L. Zellman and P. Kean, ballastmen, both of Frankton, escaped unhurt. The injuries received by the men above-mentioned, were not of a serious nature, and after being attended to by Dr. Zobel, at Te Kuiti. they were able to proceed to their homes. No inconvenience was caused to the working of the ordinary traffic, as the overturned van and truck were speedily placed on the track.
