STOCK SALES.

The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: — At Ohaupo on the 28th April we had only a small yarding of cattle, 200 head being penned, and 300 sheep. There was a good attendance, and ruling prices for cattle were maintained. Fresh conditioned 3% and 4-year steers, £5 7s to £6 3s; three year steers, £4 ios to £5 3s ; fat cows and heifers, £4 9s to £5 ; fresh cows and heifers, £2 19s to £4 ; 18-months empty heifers, 38s; 2600 wethers penned were required. Fat and forward two-tooth wethers, 17s 6d to 19s 3d ; others, 16s ; long wool two-tooth wethers backward condition, 15s 7d to 15s 9d ; long wool ewes, full-mouth, in lamb to Leicester rams, 13s 7d. We held our usual Wgihou monthly sale on Friday, Ist May, and yarded 800 head of cattle. There was a good attendance, and prices for stores were easier than those ruling in the Waikato. Eighty-two head of beef penned were required, small fat steers, £6 to £6 ios ; fat heifers, £5 2s 6d to £6 is; fat cows, £4 to £5 ss; fresh iVz and 4-year steers, £5 to £6 2s; 2Yz and steers, £4 8s to £4 Iss; 2-year steers, £2 7s 6d to £3 ; choice 'ls-month steers, £2 7s 6d; store cows, 35s to £2 I2s 6d; empty 2-} r ear heifers, £2 7 s to £2 19s; 12 and 1-5-month heifers, 225; calves, 16s to 21s; others, I2s to 14s; fat wethers, 17s 6d ; fat sheep, 17s. On Wednesday, 29th April, we held our first cattle sale at Ngaruawahia. and have to report a most successful one. The yards were completely filled, also some pens in the sheep yards, and altogether 800 head were yarded. There was a good attendance, and prices slightly better than late sales. 250 2 to 4-year steers penned; with the exception of 42 all were from the Waingaro district, and of really good quality and forward in condition. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: — On Wednesday, at Matamata, we yarded over 700 head of cattle, and 450 sheep and lambs. Several buyers from outside districts competed briskly for all classes of stock, and with the exception of two pens of calf heifers, all were sold at the hammer, or afterwards, at prices now ruling. 18-month to 2-year-old steers realised from £2 I2s to £3 lOs ; yearling steers, £2 to £2 7s ; mixed yearlings, £l 14s to £2 ss; 3-year-old steers, £6; fresh conditioned cows and heifers, £3 12s 6d to £4 7s 6d ; fat cows, £4 17s 6d to £6 ; store cows, £1 5s to £2; strong good calves, 193 to £l ss; others, I2s to 16s; 3 and 4-year-old bulls, £3 5 s to £4 IOs; dairy cows, £4 IOs; aged lines in lambs, 8s 5d ; store ewes, lOs 9d; shorn lambs, 5s 6d. ' At Hamilton Yards, oii Thursday, April 30th, a fair number of stock was yarded. Fat steers realised from £7 lOs to £8 8s ; fat cows, £5 5 s to £6 I2s; fat heifers, £4 15s to £5 IOs; aged cows, £3 5 s to £4; 2 %-year-old steers, £4; store cows, £1 lOs to £2 ss; calves, 16s to 20s; fat ewes, 15s 7d to 17s 6d; fat lambs, Us 6d to 13s; store lambs, Qs 3d to lOs 6d ; store pigs, 18s to £l 5s ; young pigs, 8s to lOs 6d; slips, 14s to 17s. On Friday, at Rangioahia, we held a clearing sale of live and dead stock on account of Mr W. M. Shaw. A large attendance of buyers came from all parts of Waikato, and w r e report a successful sale. The dairy cows were a good lot, and sold at from £4 4s to £8 53 ; a few aged culled cows, £2 to £3 2s 6d ; calves, 20s ; bulls, £1 153 to £3 ; medium draught mares. £3O each ; draught yearling, £8 lOs ; buggy mare, £8 lOs ; buggy and harness, £i6s 10s ; farm waggon, £23 lOs ; milk waggon, £2l ; plough harness, £1 5= to £l lOs ; D.F. plough, £5 los ; S.F. ploughs, £2 to £3 5s ; milk cows, lOs to 193 each ; store pigs, 15s to £1 lOs ; sows in pig, £4 5s to £4 I2s 6d ; boar, £2. The balance of farm implements, furniture, farm tools and sundries all realised satisfactory prices. On Saturday we held our monthly sale at Te Awamutu, when more than the usual number of cattle were penned. Calves and 18-months to 2-year-old steers were wanted, and all this class sold at late prices. 18months to 2-year-old steers made from £2 15s to £3 £s ; heifers in calf, £2 14s ; empty heifers, £l IOs; best calves, £l 7s to £l 8s; others, 19s to £1 3s 5d ; weedy do., 6s to lis. Pigs : Weaners, ss6dto 8s 6d; slips, 12s 6d to 15s 6d; porkers, £l Is to £l 6s 6d.
